As of May 1, 2026, combined tax revenues across Zhetisu Region’s 10 districts and cities reached KZT 28.4 billion, up KZT 10.1 billion, or 55.1%, from KZT 18.3 billion a year earlier.
All 10 local jurisdictions recorded higher tax revenues, making Zhetisu one of the few regions where growth was universal. Taldykorgan alone contributed KZT 5.1 billion of the KZT 10.1 billion increase, accounting for 50.6% of the region’s total revenue growth.

Development pipeline
The region is implementing projects aimed at expanding agriculture, food processing, and water and transport infrastructure, including:
- Phase III construction of the Tekeli Energy Complex in Tekeli
- A waste-to-energy facility in Taldykorgan
- Animal feed production in Alakol District
- Expansion of a meat processing plant in Alakol District
- Feed additive production in Koksu District
- Construction of reservoirs on the Zhamanty, Khorgos, Usek, Tyshkan, Balykty, Bien and Bizhe rivers
- Construction and modernization of irrigation networks to improve water availability for agriculture
Zhetisu Region is demonstrating one of the strongest and most broad-based tax revenue performances in the country, with every district and city posting year-on-year growth. At the same time, more than half of the overall increase came from Taldykorgan, underscoring the regional capital’s continued role as the primary engine of fiscal growth.
At the same time, the region’s investment pipeline points to a broader effort to diversify economic activity beyond Taldykorgan. Projects focused on agricultural processing, manufacturing and water infrastructure are expected to strengthen value creation in rural areas, expand the local tax base and support more balanced territorial development over the longer term.
